A light cut through the darkness.
Where before there had been nothing, there was now earth and air.
He had no words for his strange new feelings of warmth, light and movement. He had no way of describing the satisfying crunch of leaves, the sharp smell of pine or the way the tree’s bark crumbled in bald patches.
But it made him feel strange. He felt for a word – happy, yes that would do it. Happy. And the feelings made him want to do strange things – to move, to see, to feel.
He didn’t know it yet, but he wanted to dance.
